Amazing Fantasy Opening

So I've written a new script!

My latest screenplay is a fast paced comedy with a working title; Amazing Fantasy.

I've finished a first draft and I am just working on the spelling and grammar now before sending it out to a few people/contests to see how it does. I did however want to share the opening five pages of it with you guys so that you can get a feel for my work and then hopefully tell me if you think it's any good or not! Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the logline:

'A comic book geek and his girlfriend team up to steal a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first appearance of Spider-Man, for his dying Grandfather.'

Now go ahead and read the opening! Please let me know what you think, whether that be through the comments section, my twitter or email.

Enjoy!

What did you think, would you be interested in reading more? Let me know!

Thanks for reading!

Update On My Work

So after (nearly) three years of studying, today I handed in my final pieces of work, concluding my time at Falmouth University. It's a pretty big day, but I thought I would update you guys on what I'm hoping is going to happen next!

So after studying all this time, I have realised that screenwriting is the route for me. One of my final projects was a feature length screenplay, and that is what I will now be looking to sell. Obviously, that is just one screenplay, so I'm going to need to write some more! I have my house in Falmouth for the next couple months, so I will be doing a lot of writing work during my break, before looking for a part time job, so I can begin to have some income and pay off the annoyingly high student debt, as well as use the money to submit to festivals, competitions and what not.

So yeah, lots of screenwriting is about to begin, or has begun, because I have already developed another idea which I am about to write a first draft for!

The screenplay I have already written, and gone through a number of drafts with, is titled The Pursuit. And if any producers/agents/directors/managers out there are reading, then let me tell you, it is a Young Adult Sci-Fi film, which I would pitch as a cross between The Hunger Games and Moon.

The logline goes like this:

Born onto a mission to explore the stars, Lily only dreams of going home to Earth. What was once an impossible dream becomes suddenly more achievable when the ship regains a lost connection with Earth, and Lily becomes friends with a lonely technician named Bry on the other end.

Sound like some something you might want to read/pursue further? Get in contact!! (alex-moppy@hotmail.com)

Other shameless plugs on this post include; an article I wrote recently on Jay and Mark Duplass's TV show Togetherness  for Steam TV. You can read that one here.

Don't worry though, I'm not giving up the blog just yet! In fact I'm celebrating my hand in with a screening of Mad Max: Fury Road, because that's just what film students do. Keep an eye out for a review of that in the next few days!

Thanks for reading!

Broken Hearts

IT IS FINALLY HERE! My short film which I have been working on for a while now is here. The moment you have all been waiting for (possibly)! The description of my film goes like this: An anti-romance short film that documents the relationship between a young couple and the tragic car accident that ends it. The music was made by myself on Garage Band and the rest was by a band called John Badger and The Moustache Riders of Doom, here is their website: http://johnbadger.bandcamp.com/
And here is the film:

You can also watch it on Vimeo here: http://vimeo.com/39279380
And subscribe to the blog's channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/AlexMovieBlog?feature=mhee
Will hopefully be more video goodies here in the near future!
I would love some feedback so please leave a comment! Thanks for reading and watching!

Some Of My Film Work

So I haven't really blogged about my own film work yet and if you have read my profile you will have seen that I am a budding filmmaker. I haven't actually made any full feature films yet as I am studying my A-Levels and hoping to do a film course at University next year.

Last year though I did make a film trailer for my coursework called Experiment 66. The trailer was for a made up film I had created which was like Twilight for men, as it has a bromance instead of a romance. And everyone loves a good bromance! I also am editing footage from my school play The Wizard of Oz to make a DVD. I went in to some of the rehearsals to make a trailer though. You can see both the trailers bellow! Experiment 66 is on Vimeo so click the link to go see that one. The school production one has no sound due to copyright issues.

Experiment 66 Trailer

I do however have two short films that are being made, here are the ideas:

Broken Hearts
A found footage film that puts a twist on the romance genre. The film starts with a boy being run over by a car, we then go backward through the footage on his video camera to see a relationship between him and and a girl. We see that the boy had just been in an argument with his girlfriend before his death.

Snow Dream
This is film about a young boy who dreams of himself in a winter wonderland. The concept does not sound very exciting but it is going to be set to a soundtrack of The Killers songs. The things that happen during his dream are all inspired by the music and I want it to be almost like a tribute to the amazing band!

Hope you like my work and ideas and hopefully you might be able to see the short films early next year!
